Project Case Study
Stillwell Therapy Website
A bilingual (EN/KR) counselling & psychotherapy website for Stillwell: calm, trust-first pages that answer the questions a first-time client has, then hand off to a no-pressure email inquiry. Exported as a fully static site on Cloudflare Workers.
View Live Project →Overview
Stillwell is a Toronto counselling and psychotherapy practice for individuals and families, with programs in AMP, EMDR, Prepare/Enrich and clinical supervision. The website is built for visitors who may arrive carrying a lot: the pages stay calm and uncluttered, answer the practical questions first, and end in a consultation inquiry that asks very little of the visitor.
Objectives
Communicate who the practice helps, and how, within the first screen
Let visitors recognise their own situation through clear service categories
Answer the questions that stop people from reaching out (FAQ) before the contact step
Keep the inquiry step light and private
Serve English and Korean speakers equally, from one site
Audience and UX Constraints
Visitors to a therapy website often need:
Immediate clarity on "Is this for me?" and "How does this work?"
A gentle tone with low-pressure calls to action
Easy reading on a phone, with predictable navigation
Practical details early: availability, confidentiality, fees and coverage
Every layout and content decision was made against these constraints.
Information Architecture
Navigation follows the order in which a visitor tends to ask questions:
Home: A calm hero ("We greet your heart gently."), the specialties at a glance, and routes to Services and Contact
About: The therapist, their approach, areas of focus and professional memberships
Services: Issue-based cards for individual and family counselling
Programs: AMP, EMDR, Prepare/Enrich and clinical supervision, each a structured starting point
FAQ: Sessions, scheduling, confidentiality and payment
Credentials: Education, training and community involvement
Contact: Consultation inquiry form with a "Reason for inquiry" field, plus phone, email and address
Key Decisions
1) Availability Stated Up Front
When the practice is not taking new clients, a banner at the top of every page says so and links to a list of Korean-speaking therapists. Visitors are not left to fill in a form only to be turned away; they get a useful next step immediately.
2) Service Cards for Fast Scanning
Services are short, plain-language cards, so a visitor can tell "this fits me" without reading long paragraphs, which matters most on mobile.
3) FAQ as Part of the Inquiry Path
The FAQ is treated as a step toward contact, not an afterthought. It covers the questions that most often hold people back: session format, scheduling, the limits of confidentiality, and fees/coverage.
4) A Private, Low-Friction Inquiry
The contact form asks for a name, email and message, with a one-tap "Reason for inquiry" choice (individual, family or one of the programs); phone and subject are optional. Submitting it opens the visitor's own email app with the message already written, so the inquiry goes straight from the visitor to the therapist and nothing is stored on a third-party server.
5) A Logo Built for the Brand
The Stillwell mark, a tree above two facing chairs by the water, is drawn in code and generated as SVG and icon files from one source, so it stays crisp at every size and consistent across the favicon, header and social previews.
6) Bilingual From the Start
English and Korean live under their own URLs with next-intl, and all page copy is kept in message files, so either language can grow without touching the layout.
What This Means for the Business
Fast, calm reading experience: Pages are pre-built and served from Cloudflare's network, so they open quickly, and type and spacing are tuned for comfortable reading.
Comfortable on phones: The layout adapts to any screen, so visitors can browse services and reach the inquiry form easily on mobile.
English and Korean in one site: Visitors switch language with one tap, and translated content can keep growing as pages are added.
Nothing to keep running: The site is fully static with no server or database, which keeps hosting costs minimal and leaves very little that can break or be attacked.
Safer updates: Automated tests cover the site's building blocks and key visitor journeys, lowering the risk that a future change breaks something.
What This Project Demonstrates
UX judgement for sensitive, professional services: trust, clarity and low friction
Information architecture that follows real visitor questions
A clean Next.js + TypeScript + Tailwind build, bilingual from day one
Lightweight, low-maintenance hosting as a static site on Cloudflare Workers
A quality-focused workflow with unit and end-to-end tests

Primary Goal: Trust + consultation inquiries
Role: Solo delivery (IA → brand → UI → i18n → testing → deployment)
